The participants are strongly encouraged to attend the conference part of LibSpeak 2010 (registration at 8am). You may also invite your classmates as well as other teachers, librarian/s and/ or parents to attend the said event since it's for FREE. (February 22, 2010 at UP Balay Kalinaw, Diliman, Quezon City).
The coverage will be current issues and events, general information, and general knowledge about the library and information science. The questions on current issues and events will be taken from Philippine Daily Inquirer (Headlines and News Section ONLY), starting February 1 - 21, 2010.

Altruistic bonding, charitable dashing

Fund Run 2009

Location: UP Acad Oval

Running is a simple activity which most everyone is capable of doing. Yet it provides fitness to mind, body, and heart all at the same time. This is why UP FLIPP chose this pursuit to raise funds for an outreach activity at a charitable organization of their choice. For every 50 pesos pledged for the charity, one member jogs a distance equivalent to half the circumference of the Acad Oval. The collected funds equated to almost 60 laps of this type which were distributed equally to the members present. The morning was spent burning calories, raising physical and mental endurance, and reinforcing emotional bonds. Running for a purpose makes all the effort worthwhile. All the members finished their laps at their own pace and ended the activity with elation for a job well done. Continue the sprint for excellence, UP FLIPP!

Volunteerism Extraordinaire

Y4iT 2009

Location: UP Film Institute, UP Theater, Ang Bahay ng Alumni

The Philippine Youth Congress in Information Technology, or Y4iT, presents information and communications technology in a brighter light. It showcases current trends, knowledge sources, and career opportunities in this field. The UP FLIPP was again part of this momentous event. Together with students from Roosevelt College, the members and applicants handled the task of welcoming the event participants to one of the main venues, the UP Film Institute. Coming as early as 6 AM, they tirelessly collected ticket stubs, gave out congress kits, and answered the participants’ inquiries. Some volunteers also functioned as ushers who dealt with the seating arrangements inside the venue. Before the event itself, the UP FLIPP also took part in the packing of congress kits. Post event, some members also encoded relevant ticket information for the raffle draw. The final chapter was the victory party wherein all the volunteers were rewarded for their hard work.

Throughout the event itself, the members and applicants of UP FLIPP learned valuable lessons in punctuality, efficiency, and personnel management. These values will surely help them in future Y4iT events and other affairs of this magnitude.
