Movie Making Seminar
July 13, 2009
Location: ILS Room 3
Creating movie presentations can be confusing to the newbie video enthusiast. This is why UP FLIPP held a Movie Making Seminar spearheaded by Theo Aman who graced us with his proficiency at using Windows Movie Maker. From his brief presentation, the participants gleaned a number of simple but nevertheless useful tips in making audiovisual projects. In keeping with his usual demeanor, his overall performance was boih entertaining and educational. The participants also took an active part by being willing volunteers in the step-by-step process of making a sample movie. Although the number of participants was somehow underwhelming, the activity was still a success. We hope that this seminar wil be of use in the future for various courses and other situations requiring creative and informative presentations. Nice work UP FLIPP!
Choosing a prospective buddy can be a somewhat daunting task with all the extraordinary and capable members of UP FLIPP to choose from. Luckily for the intrepid Batch Sobre Saliente, our friendly neighborhood Internal Affairs Committee prepared a brief introductory AVP which highlighted the various buddy candidates' characteristics and quirks. Batch Sobre Saliente went out in full force, bringing with them their innumerable stashes of PET Bottles, white papers, and even stacks of coins. In addition, each and every applicant was present during the activity. Good job!
The actual bidding process was fierce and action-packed. Some applicants were desperate to acquire some of the more popular buddy candidates. Bidding wars commenced. Some even shared their points to other applicants to let them have more of a fighting chance. In the end, everyone had a buddy of their own. Here's hoping that the connections made there will last for a lifetime. This activity was a resounding success, with both members and applicants alike enthusiastic after the event.

The UP FLIPP, in its drive to promote the LIS
course and profession, welcomed the new SLIS students through an ABC Seminar,
Block Photoshoot, and Campus Tour. About 15 paticipants attended the event.
Guided by our ever-reliable members, the group took a brief stroll around the
campus. Five landmarks in the University became stopovers: Palma Hall, Quezon
Hall, UP Theater, UP Main Library, and the Sunken Garden. At each point, the
members shared trivia and anecdotes about the site. Also, they highlighted tips
on surviving college life. Basically, the ABC Seminar was a crash course on how
to be an effective UP and SLIS student. The participants were also treated to several
photo oppurtunities which translated to fun experiences. Overall, this was a
successful activity which embodies the main principles of UP FLIPP.
